American Dance Festival
Cuban choreographers participated in the American Dance Festival and residency program. The program included classes on contemporary dance and choreography techniques exposing them to new trends and the work of international dance companies. (2000)
American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba New York City Cultural Program
Provides Cuban artists and art professionals with an essential opportunity to conduct research, attend rehearsals and performances, meet colleagues and experts in their field of specialization, and participate in panel discussions in New York City. (2000-2004)
Bates Dance Festival
Cuban choreographers and theater designers participate in the Bates Dance Festival allowing them to study with American mainstream dance professionals, create new works, and conduct research. (2001-2004)
Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute
Three, six, and twelve-month residency programs allow Cuban filmmakers and theater directors to receive training on the methods and techniques pioneered by Stanislovsky and Strasberg. (2001-2004)
Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab
Cuban theater directors attend the intensive residency program and collaborate with more than 50 international directors and 20 master artists from around the world. (2001-2004)
Massachusetts College of Art
Each year, Cuban artists participate in residency programs at Mass Art. In 2001, photographer, Pedro Aboscal met with classes and conducted lectures about his work. In 2002, artist, Carlos Estevez resided at the college and created new work for an installation opening, produced an edition of prints, and participated in numerous classroom and studio activities. Museum of Modern Art
A Cuban art historian will participate in MoMA's international internship program to conduct research on MoMA's Latin American collection and gain valuable professional experience. (2003)
Ohio Arts Council
Visual and performing artists and art professionals participate in residency and development programs at Ohio State University and the Cleveland College of Art and Design. (2001-2004)
Rhode Island School of Design
In 2001, Cuban artist Jose Toirac served as Visiting Critic in the photography department of RISD and exhibited his work at the Rhode Island Foundation. Other residencies are provided on an on-going basis for artists, art historians, and professionals.
Southampton College
In conjunction with the AFLFC New York City Cultural Program, Southampton College provides visiting Cuban artists and art historians with residencies and teaching opportunities. (2002-2004)
Vermont Studio Center
Cuban artists participate in a 4 week Independent Studio Residencies program. This program allows them to work in an intense studio environment with other American and international artists. (2002)
